    Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse for the Sega Main System and Sega Game Gear, known as Mickey Mouse no Castle Illusion (ミッキーマウスのキャッスルイリュージョン) in Japan, is a platform game released in 1990 featuring the mascot of Disney, Mickey Mouse. This is an 8-bit counterpart to the Sega Mega Drive game of the same name, which although shares the aforementioned story and basic blueprint concepts, has differing levels and gameplay mechanics.

    Story

    Castle of Illusion follows Mickey Mouse as he attempts to defeat the witch Mizrabel who has kidnapped Minnie. Equally he approaches the archway of Mizrabel'southward castle, a mysterious old man appears and offers him assistance. Mickey must defeat Mizrabel's henchmen in each level and obtain a crystal which, if all of them obtained, will open upward the route to witch's throne room.

    Castle of Illusion

    — Opening sequence

    Gameplay

    In Castle of Illusion, the player controls Mickey Mouse through six levels, known as the "worlds of illusion." Mickey tin move around with Left and Right and jump with 2. While in the air, Mickey can perform a bounciness assault by pressing 1 in the Principal Organisation version and 2 in the Game Gear version, allowing him to defeat foes that he lands on and bounce up to reach higher places. Mickey can slide down slopes if he lands on them while doing his bounciness attack. Mickey can grab an item past holding the D-pad in the direction of the item while standing next to it and selection up the item past pressing 1. The detail can be thrown with 1; items can be thrown at enemies to defeat them. Items tin also exist used as steps to reach higher places. Mickey can swim underwater with 2 2 2 2 2 . He can enter doorways or climb ladders and vines with Up; he can duck or descend ladders and vines with Down.

    Mickey begins the game with three points on his Power Gauge, indicating how many hits he can accept by enemies. At that place are two Power Stars hidden in the game that extend his Power Estimate past two points.

    Levels

    The first iii levels, containing a gem each, are available at the showtime of the game and can be played in any order. Once all three levels have been completed, the next two are unlocked, containing 2 gems each, which can once again be played in either club. After collecting all vii gems, the final level is unlocked.

    A path to the witch's castle appears after collecting the seven gems. At present, to rescue Minnie, you lot must fight a large scary dragon before facing the final boss: Mizrabel.

    The 8-scrap renditions of Castle of Illusion would be followed past two sequels, State of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse and Legend of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse. Mega Drive owners would see a sequel in World of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck.
